Not at fault? Here's what you're entitled to

If the accident was not your fault, the at-fault party's insurer must cover towing and repair costs.

Your rights when choosing a tow truck in Victoria

  • You have the right to choose your own licensed tow operator under the Accident Towing Services Act 2007 — even if another truck arrived first.
  • You do not have to accept pressure from operators at the scene. You can ask them to leave.
  • Accident towing fees in Victoria are regulated by law. WGBW always stays within the published maximum.
  • You can request your vehicle be taken to any repair facility of your choice.
  • Always ask to see an operator's VicRoads towing accreditation card before agreeing to a tow.
