Two Gold Coast workshops, one standard of XPeng repair

If your XPeng has been in a crash on the Gold Coast, WGBW has two workshops to choose from: Miami Smash Repairs on the southern coastal strip, and Maxbutts Auto Bodyworks in Ashmore, closer to the city's centre.

Both are part of the WGBW Group, which has more than 50 years in smash repair and 11 workshops across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. The right one for you mostly comes down to where you live or work, when you can drop the car off, and what kind of damage you have.

This guide compares the two so you can book the one that suits you.

What both workshops offer

Whichever you choose, your XPeng gets the same XPeng smash repair on the Gold Coast process:

  • High-voltage safety first. The battery system is isolated and tested before any work starts.
  • Factory-standard structural repair. The body is measured and brought back to XPeng's specifications.
  • Sensor checks and recalibration. The XPeng G6 alone carries 12 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and five radar units (CarExpert), and any that are disturbed by the repair are checked and recalibrated.
  • Colour-matched paint sprayed in a controlled booth and blended into nearby panels.
  • 24-hour towing on EV-safe flatbeds.
  • A replacement vehicle for eligible customers, from a fleet of around 100 cars.
  • Insurance claims handled with all major insurers.
  • A lifetime guarantee on workmanship.

Miami Smash Repairs sits just off the Gold Coast Highway on the southern coastal strip. It's the easy choice if you live or work around Burleigh Heads, Nobby Beach, Mermaid Beach, Palm Beach or Varsity Lakes.

Alongside collision repair, Miami lists a wider range of services under one roof:

Best for: southern Gold Coast drivers, anyone who can only drop off on a Saturday morning, and repairs that also need a windscreen, wheel or sensor calibration.

‍

Ashmore workshop: Maxbutts Auto Bodyworks

Address: 18 Green Glen Rd, Ashmore QLD 4214

Phone: (07) 5597 0444

Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm

Maxbutts Auto Bodyworks is in Ashmore, in the middle of the Gold Coast. It's handy for drivers in Southport, Benowa, Bundall, Molendinar, Arundel and Nerang, and for anyone heading toward the M1.

The Ashmore team focuses on:

  • Accident repairs, with qualified staff returning cars to manufacturer specifications
  • 24-hour towing for all types of vehicles, including motorcycles
  • Replacement vehicles from WGBW's fleet of around 100 cars

Best for: central and northern Gold Coast drivers, early drop-offs before work from 7:30am, and straightforward collision repairs.

Miami or Ashmore: which should you choose?

Both workshops repair XPengs to the same standard, so choose the one that fits your day.

Choose Miami if:

  • you live or work south of Broadbeach, along the coast
  • you need a Saturday morning drop-off or pick-up
  • your repair also needs a windscreen, wheel repair or ADAS calibration

Choose Ashmore if:

  • you live or work in Southport, Benowa, Nerang or the northern suburbs
  • you want to drop off early, from 7:30am, before work
  • you're coming off the M1 or from the Gold Coast hinterland

Not sure? Call either workshop. If the other one is better placed for your repair, we'll book you in there.

If your XPeng can't be driven

Don't drive an XPeng with a high-voltage or battery warning, fluid leaks or broken lights. Call either workshop for 24-hour towing. We'll take the car on an EV-safe flatbed to whichever workshop suits you and the repair. If the damage looks serious, read Can an XPeng be repaired after a major accident?

What happens after you call

  1. Report it. Call Miami on (07) 5535 9444 or Ashmore on (07) 5597 0444. Have your insurer and claim number ready, and we'll lodge or follow up the claim.
  2. Tow or drop-off. Drive the car in if it's safe, or we'll collect it on a flatbed.
  3. Inspect and quote. We remove damaged panels to find hidden damage and agree the repair plan with your insurer.
  4. Repair and recalibrate. While you drive a replacement car, we complete the structural, panel and paint work, then check the sensors and the high-voltage system.
  5. Handover. Your XPeng is cleaned, quality-checked and ready to collect, backed by our lifetime workmanship guarantee.

Gold Coast XPeng repair FAQs

Do both Gold Coast workshops repair XPengs?

Yes. Miami and Ashmore both follow the WGBW XPeng repair process, including high-voltage safety, structural measuring, colour-matched paint and sensor checks. Choose whichever is more convenient.

Which workshop is open on Saturdays?

Miami Smash Repairs is open Saturday from 9:00am to 11:30am. Maxbutts Auto Bodyworks in Ashmore is open Monday to Friday only, from 7:30am.

My insurer has a preferred repairer. Can I still use Miami or Ashmore?

Many comprehensive policies let you choose your own repairer. Check your policy wording or call us, and we'll help you find out. We work with all the major insurers and manage the claim for you.

Can I get a car to drive while my XPeng is being repaired?

Eligible customers get a replacement vehicle for the length of the repair. WGBW's fleet of around 100 cars includes EVs, so we can often match what you normally drive.

How long does an XPeng smash repair take on the Gold Coast?

It depends on the damage and parts availability. A minor bumper repair can take a few days, while structural repairs with sensor recalibration take longer. We'll give you a time estimate with your quote.
